The kids and I decided to take the Rhino for a short drive on day 16. Gracie got to drive first and then it was Coda's turn. It seems we are surrounded by hay or grain fields. I couldn't help but to stop and get a picture of this golden field. I could kick myself for not dressing the kids better and waiting for a better time of day to get a good shot, besides that I sent our nice camera home with Justin. Dang! I won't get another chance like this until next year. The kids didn't care much for the feel of the grain (neither did I after I got one in the rump). They didn't dare get any further in the grain than what mom could lift them into. But what a beautiful sight it was. Oh, how I'll miss the country!
I hear later from Grandma, that Coda drove them through a creek and soaked everyone. Grandma said it was so much fun they did it four more times! She is such a cool grandma, but an even cooler mom!
Later that night I met up with my best girl friend Dev. Friends since 2001, family since 2003, (she's my husbands cousin). We had a great time. We started out at Johnny Carino's for some delicious calamari and pasta where we laughed about our lazy melancholy waiter. Then we went to Target to pick up my dad's b-day present, then to Porter's. We both agree, it is much more fun to go to a craft store without kids! It's funny when you don't have any children and any money how hard it is to find something to do.
I think people at Carino's thought we were crazy because we were outside taking pictures.
Dev showed me a great place for frozen yogurt. I am now in love with these great build-it-yourself yogurt places! This one was the Orange Leaf. Mmmm, I had delicious strawberry yogurt with fresh strawberries and chocolate chips. This is second only to chocolate covered strawberries!
By the way, Orange Leaf is eco-friendly with biodegradable spoons!
We weren't quite ready to end the night so we decided to hit a movie, Pirates of the Caribbean - On Stranger Tides. Talk about some crazy mermaids!
It was great getting out with Dev. We ate a lot of good food, made fun of some strangers, totally embarrassed me (I say me because Dev was just hilarious. She is the only one I know that would publicly apologize for her phone going off in a theatre - I don't know if she gets embarrassed), and had a blast!
You're the best Dev! Love ya!
