Day 15 started with sprinklers on the trampoline, which was really quite chilly for my children. I think Coda only made it about five minutes before he was off and wrapped in a towel. We spent the morning and early afternoon being lazy and playing with cousins.
My mom had a wonderful idea for dinner. We decided to load up and head to the sand dunes for some play and a hot dog roast. The kids were so excited when I told them it was a giant sandbox! We got there and unloaded all the wood, coolers, chairs, and toys before we noticed the posted sign right in front of us that said we couldn't have a fire. Really?? It's sand!!! I was a little disappointed, there is nothing like a fire roasted hot dog! We stuck around until dusk to let the kids play. They played so hard I think they all forgot how hungry they were. Warning about the pictures, Gracie has some seriously scary hair!

Me and my beautifully, strong mom.
Don't say I didn't warn you about the hair!
At the end of the evening I decided to empty Coda's pockets out by hanging him upside down by his feet. What I didn't expect was cups and cups of dirt to fall out of his pockets and go in his eyes, mouth and up his nose. Sorry buddy!
Having such a wonderful day with my family really made me miss Justin, so I send him a little note.
The sand dunes are so majestic. It just amazes me to think of where they came from and how they formed. Just another one of God's beautiful playgrounds.
I love back lit photos and I couldn't resist making my kids pose for just a few. They are so sweet and for being away from home as long as they have, they have been really good troopers.
Since my toes are too ugly to take pictures of, says my husband, I opted for our sandals instead!
Gracie always wants to go to the beach, so I told her this was the beach without the water.
This is my nephew Caden. He is 16 and not too cool to hang out with his family. Thanks buddy!
This was Coda's attempt to do a cannonball.
Gracie was all over in the sand. At one point she was on her back going head first down the dune. Yes, sand covered her head all the way up to her forehead before I caught her.
We weren't able to roast our hot dogs, but enjoyed a nice big bowl of cereal when we got home. The kids put up a little bit of a fit to get showered before bed. Its a good thing, too! There was enough sand in the bottom of the tub to make a good size sand castle!
They didn't put up much fight at bed time. They only came out once to say they were scared. When I came to bed, this is what I found. I highly doubt Coda allowed her to do this when he was awake, he is so sweet when he's asleep. (Gracie almost always ends up side ways in her bed. And if someone is sleeping with her, she uses them as her personal pillow!)
Thanks so much Mom and Dad for taking us to the dunes!
