A beautiful start to our vacation

The morning we flew out was relaxed, even though we had a 6 am flight. I was up at 3, more because I couldn't sleep rather than being unprepared. We got the kids up at 4:15 and we were out the door by 4:30.
I didn't expect the airport to be that busy at 5:30 in the morning, but that has been the busiest I've ever seen it! Panic struck and we quickly made our way to the security check in. (This is where I think Justin had a hard time. We said our goodbyes, but he came back after walking out the door. I love him!)

They had our seats all over the plane. When I asked the guy at the gate about getting our seats together, he said he couldn't. What?? I have two small children. He wouldn't budge. "Everyone's already checked in." My thoughts, I'm not getting on the plane if strangers are sitting right next to my children! He must have seen my concern because he said he'd look into it. A few minutes later he came over and said he found seats for the kids to sit together, but I was three seats back. I spent the next 10 mins trying to help my six year old understand that he would have to take care of his three year old sister if I couldn't get closer to them, (but don't worry, I wasn't going to let that happen without a fight.)

As soon as I heard hey were boarding, we jumped right up and was the first on the plane. I immediately tracked down the first flight attended and let her know my situation. She said the guy at the gate should have taken care of it and told me to sit next to my children. If anyone had a problem with me taking their seat, I was to let them know she told me. One lady wasn't happy about switching, but it was 6 in the morning so she had a right to be cranky. She let it go after I told her I didn't mind letting her sit next to my rowdy children.
My brother and sister in-law picked us up and treated is to Joe's Crab Shack, which my kids LOVE! We had a safe quiet drive amidst all the road construction (which added a good hour or two to our drive), but we were happy to finally get to my parents house.

Once there I flopped down on the couch and the kids hit the sandbox. The next two days were filled with sand and picking Mom's strawberries.
