Coda was sick today, so I didn't get to participate in the discussion at church, but here are a few things from the lesson.
. . . . .
Be Your Best Self
by President Thomas S. Monson
.
Elder Harold B. Lee described the priesthood (and the members of the church) as "the Lord's...troops against the forces of evil." So, how do we become such troops?
. . .
1. Study diligently.
President Monson shares a personal story. During a ward conference the stake presidency called on a number of ward officers to speak. After many members stood, the president then called Thomas S. Monson to the stand, the secretary of the deacons quorum. He doesn't remember what he said, but he does remember the experience and lesson learned.
.
"Be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you." - Apostle Peter
.
By studying diligently, we will always be ready to give our answers.
. . .
2. Pray fervently.
.
"He who notes the fall of a sparrow surely hears the pleadings of our hearts."
.
"Prayer is the provider of spiritual strength; it is the passport to peace."
. . .
3. Live righteously.
.
"Touch no unclean thing. Be ye clean."
. . .
President Monson states: "In a world today we face difficulties and challenges, some of which can seem truly daunting. However, with God on our side we cannot fail."
.
1.Study diligently.
2. Pray fervently.
3. Live righteously.
.
And remember,
"The Lord shapes the back
to bear the burden placed upon it."
