Lighting McQueen and a Walking Shadow

Well at about 2:30 this morning, the Texas sky started pouring. At about 6 a.m. there was a bolt of lighting right outside our window and it wasn't a minute later Coda was begging to crawl in bed with me. We laid there while Justin was getting ready for work.
.
"Mom, I saw lighting McQueen, did you know that?" Coda said, with a little bit of enthusiasm.
.
"You did?" I said, just as another bolt of lighting shined through the blinds. And with even more excitement Coda said, "See, Lighting McQueen!" (cute, yeah?)
. . . . .
Later, Coda needed a drink. Once he quenched his thirst, we ran back to the bed in the dark with lighting flashing all around us.
Coda snuggled up to me and said, "Mom, have you ever seen a walking shadow?"
.
I, having know idea where this conversation was headed said, "Sure, when we move, our shadows move with us."
.
"No Mom, a walking shadow that moves all by itself."
.
Shocked, and a little disturbed I said, "No."
.
Coda, as calm as could be, admitted, "I saw a walking shadow by the bathroom."
.
Don't panic.... DON'T PANIC??? We just let our superman walk out the door to go to work and Coda is seeing "walking shadows"? (For those who don't know me, I am a real scaredy cat!) Immediately, the children's hymns came to my head. After about ten minutes of "A Child's Prayer" I decided to think about it....testing my nerves.
.
And here is my logic:
A mischievous "walking shadow" decided to invade our little humble apartment. I am obviously not as inventive as Wendy, John or Michael, so Tinkerbell had to step in. She single handedly took down the "walking shadow", tracked down Peter, and sewed the shadow back onto Peter's shoes. Ah, Ha! See, nothing to be scared of! And with that, I drifted right back to sleep!

HAHA Your funny little Coda! He is so cute. And way to be brave Mom!!! Walking shadows can be a little pesky, so make sure you have your soap and needle handy so you can sew them back where they belong!

Well, if you haven't already, bless your apartment. If you already did it, bless your apartment again. I'm glad that you were able to be brave!

I pray every night that something like that doesn't happen. I am a scaredy cat too. I won't even watch tv at night anymore cause my imagination can run away with me. And with Nate being gone I have to be the brave one. I even keep the doors locked during the day. Did you find your rings yet? I still need to get you this story, but your email isn't working for me.

i love your logic. peter pan, of course! i should have thought of something like that this morning. nate left really early while it was still dark and i had an extremely lifelife dream that i heard our front door open and a "walking shadow" came down the hall...ok i'll stop there because you obviously don't care to hear the rest...but i woke up for real and then i sure freaked out for the next two hours until the sun came up.
