Baseball 2011

This fall baseball season was very special. We decided to let Gracie play tee-ball. She was on the Yellow Jackets team. Like any athlete, she hated practice but loved the games. She played lots of positions, but I especially loved watching her play first base in her last game. She had no idea what she was doing, but she was having so much fun. She learned how to "ride the skate board" when she threw the ball, make beautiful dirt piles, hit off a tee, twirl and watch the birds go by. It was so much fun watching her!

Coda had an AMAZING season playing on the Dirt Devils team. He played mostly short stop, where he did awesome! He played well all season, but had to really amazing games. One game the Dirt Devils were down two, Coda had a good hit and brought two in. He was on third base when his team mate hit the ball. Coda was on a made dash to home plate. He realized the pitcher had the ball just as the pitcher tossed it to the catcher. Coda jumped over the bat that was in the baseline and slid into home plate! Everyone was cheering and giving Justin high fives. It was so fun! His coach made it a point to tell us how well he is doing and that he listens so well. He also said that he has to give every kid a game ball and if Coda hadn't already received his, he would have gotten another one that day!

These last few photos are of Coda's Grand Slam. I'm not sure what the score was, but it was close. The score was going back and forth. He was up to bat with bases loaded. Sure enough on his first swing he nailed it  into left field! It barely stayed fair! I'm not sure if the outfield were in shock or just slow getting to the ball. Everyone was jumping and hollering! His teammates ran out to meet him at home. The funny thing was, Coda just slapped their hands and went to the dugout like he hits Grand Slams every day. The coach gave him a special Grand Slam ball (which Daddy so proudly wrote "Grand Slam 2011") I am so proud of him and how much he excelled this year. I was really bummed to see it over. I can't wait until the spring!

Oh, and yes those are pink socks the boys are wearing. They wore pink socks for breast cancer awareness month.
