Mom was always the best remedy for when I was sick. She would always bring me home something. A coloring book or a delicious treat, no matter how old I was.
Mom always wanted to go shopping with me. She would get so aggravated because she would be so excited to go and I always hated shopping. Now times have changed and I wish I could shop with her more often.
My mom makes the best homemade chicken noodle soup. And her chicken sandwich is pretty awesome too. I have had more than one of her fresh strawberry milkshakes. Who am I kidding? Everything my mom makes is delicious. I can always count on eating good when I go home.
My favorite times with mom are when it is just the two of us. Whether we are sitting on the porch swing, driving to town, or staying up late - we could talk all night.
In 2009 my mom was diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma. A rare cancer found in the lymph nodes. Since then she has undergone three surgeries on her neck and and two six week radiation sessions. Although her body and spirit were weakened, this trial has made her stronger then she knows. It has given us all a better insight to the meanings "cherish life", "live life to the fullest", "don't let a day pass you by", and the phrase "I love you."
Mom was my Young Women's leader, my volleyball coach and my cheerleader. She still is my mentor, my counselor, my mother, my best friend, my hero and maybe every now and then still my cheerleader.
Happy Mother's Day to the bravest, strongest, generous, woman I know. I love you Mom!
