Yesterday, we put up our tree with the same goldish-pearlish ornaments as always. The kids always manage to find the mismatched bulbs that I try to keep tucked away. I know I put them back in the tote at least twice, so I was surprised to find them hidden in the tree when I went to turn the lights on. I took them off and placed them back in the tote, despite their protest. We then put on the new red ornaments we bought. The tree was hideous. I stared at it and couldn't take it. I was tempted to put the tree like it's been for twelve years, but I already had it in my head that we needed a change. So, after a long morning at Hobby Lobby I came up with this! You should have seen the excitement on Gracie's face until she said, "where's the angel?" After explaining to her that it didn't match she asked if we could go buy one that did match. Teasingly, I asked "If we don't have an angel are you still going to celebrate Christmas?" In the most disappointed voice ever she said, "no." Well, huh. I guess we're going angel shopping tomorrow! And maybe see if we can find a place for all the misfit ornaments!
