The kids have been begging to do gingerbread cookies. After repeated arguments with Gracie that I didn't know how to make gingerbread (although she was persistent in letting me know she knew how) I finally convinced her that we could do sugar cookies and still decorate them. So despite runny noses and coughs, we decorated cookies on Monday. (I felt it was best if we didn't share these with neighbors seeing how our entire household was sick.)
Coda wanted to crack the eggs, which ended up splattering all over his clothes. And Gracie couldn't wait for me to help with the vanilla. She poured the first tablespoon really well, but the second came out too fast and dumped a good half a cup into our eggs. (We did that part over.) Then after baking two batches, I let the kids play with the left over cookie dough. I was a very patient mama that day and I love my sugar cookie baking babies!
