Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving "y'all"!
Things weren't quite the same this Thanksgiving.
No frog eyed salad, (Grandma)
No home made noodles, (Grandma)
No home made rolls, (Aunt Darlean)
No red jello with graham cracker crust, (Mom)
No ham (Grandma)
No yams (Aunt Jeanie)
(I never liked yams, but I love seeing the toasted white marshmallow fluff, so cozy)
No Pinnocle
No plate full of every pie you could imagine
BUT
What I did have was,
I quiet morning with my husband,
A crazy, loud mid-morning with my kids,
Banana pie making with my kids,
A few games of Disney Yahtzee!
Then,
Self peeled potatoes,
Over done turkey,
Strawberry creamy-crap,
Rhoades Rolls,
Canned gravy,
Banana Pie,
Then,
Duck-feeding and the pond,
Shopping at Old Navy,
Quiet night at home.
Surprisingly, a joyful Thanksgiving.
Being away from home really puts things in check. I am so grateful for family. How blessed we are to have the stability of family in our lives. I am also grateful for my husband, (he spent about two hours trying to track down a meat thermometer for me this morning, so sweet). I am thankful for my crazy, energetic kids. As strange as it may seem, they really keep me grounded. I am grateful for the gospel and the foundation that it has been in our lives. These are just a few of my many blessings. I hope we all took an opportunity to count our blessings this year.
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
