On Monday Coda tested for his Little Dragons' Orange Belt. He came home with a red stamp and a card that said he passed and the belt ceremony would be on Wednesday. He was so excited, but as the day got closer I could tell Coda wasn't too sure about things. As we pulled up to the building Coda said, "Mom I don't want all those people looking at me." And I explained to him that all the other moms and dads were there to watch their little boy, not to watch him. He seemed to accept that, but as we were walking in I couldn't help but feel like I was missing a great teaching opportunity. So, before we got to the door I bent close to him and just asked "Would you like to say a prayer?" He looked up at me with a "that's a great idea" smile. We went to a corner outside the building and said a little prayer. And he was perfectly confident during the whole thing!
They have a little saying that they repeat before and after each karate class. And Coda knows it all.
I'm a Little Dragon fast and strong.
I am learning wants right and wrong.
I will always do my best,
to do whats right and avoid the rest.
I will never start a fight.
And I will help other's with all my might!
